Hello Cyclops,

This is the first time I am attempting to dive into overclocking, I had repasted thermal paste(3 years old laptop) and undervolted cpu(i7 6700hq [-160.2mv]), temperatures seems good: (both cpu and gpu dropped from 8~90ish to 6~70 ish celcius while gaming), hoping to get more juice out of my laptop so that I can have a smoother experience with Monster Hunter Iceborne release on Jan next year.

MSI ge62 6qe, spec: https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GE62-6QE-.../Specification
GTX 965m (revised GM206 variant), spec: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-spec...gtx-965m.c2796

Thanks in advance!

Hello Cyclops,

Thanks for helping out, I have some more question, after burner just won't register my memory clock input/tweak and keeps resetting right after I press the tick icon, even before and after flashing vbios mod, is there a fixable or a default thing?

Furthermore, after flashing this vbios, what can I mess with? core clock and memory clock? what about voltage? should I leave it as is?

Please help, thanks

The memory clock might be software locked. The only way to change that would be to keep flashing different BIOS's with new memory clocks to see which one is stable. As for what you can do now. The only thing that matters is core clock, voltage slider doesn't do anything now. So crank the core clock as high as it goes and see how far you can go. I can give you different BIOS's with different memory speeds (100 mhz steps) to see which one suits you the best if you like.

Thanks!!

At this stage I've encountered a problem:

Flashing the very first modded bios (stock memory clock) you gave me causes the temperature to reach 90+ celcius and the laptop shuts itself down after extensive play, I did read about raising voltage in the bios will cause temperature raise? (I noticed you changed the voltages in the bios via maxwell tweaker)

So is it possible to overclock without changing voltage? whats the difference?

Is there any relevant guide you can lead me to for me to do my due diligence of reading/researching?
