I was helping my brother build a computer and ran into some issues with the GPU. The computer would not POST so I pulled the GPU and everything worked fine. Was able to install windows and all the drivers. However once I put the card back there is no display signal either from the card or onboard. Not sure what the issue could be any help is appreciated. And I did double check all power connections to the GPU and PSU and pulled and reseated the card multiple times to make sure it wasn't a loose connection. I don't think a defective card would affect onboard video so i'm hoping its a bios setting. I flashed the MB bios to the newest version also.
The system specs are:

Asrock z97 extreme 6
EVGA GTX 770
EVGA G2 750 watts
Patriot Viper 8g
i5 4690k

Dunno if you got the problem solved but, you can (taking your word for it that you have all the connections correct)

1) try a different GPU in the same PCIE lane
2) move the same GPU to a different lane

if either 1 or 2 works )
if you try a different GPU in the same PCIE lane and it works, your current GPU is defective or you somehow damaged it
and if you use the same GPU on a different lane, the first lane is malfunctioning
