It's ok to do both. Some games, especially for the online multiplayer aspect, are more robust in the XBOX ecosystem.

(yes, not including the times when NVidia broke 3-4 way SLI with not putting traffic over the PCI bus .. but they fixed that a few month ago).

Of course playing at 4k and playing at 4k with everything maxed are different things. for me playing at 4k is with all the sparkly stuff on. smile.gif

I had 2 TX and they were fine for 4k 60 fps. I could max pretty much every game. Some games, like syndicate, I had to drop AA settings about half way down, but everything else was maxed. GTA5, you name it. They were also under water and game stable at ~1525.

Just ordered an evga from newegg. I didn't want to wait for all the aib reviews. I honestly don't think the better coolers will make a huge difference anyway. The problem is the die size/surface area, not lack of cooling. Scaling seems meh anyway.

Anyone get tracking from newegg? I got 2 emails, but the order doesn't show up in my account.

Ok ran into problem.

Card is being held back by vRel limit, seems to be a VRM temp issue.

Another thing is that the card intermittently ramps the blower fan up and down for a very short period of time, idk why.

the EK blocks .. ordered but "Processing"

Will you please get us some quick 3 way and 4 way benchmarks at 4k? (minimum FPS mostly. Games mostly as well I don't give a **** about benchmarks) We have very similar systems (4 Titan X on water & 5960x) and I've been itching to downgrade to 2 way 1080 Z170 setup ever since the whole "only 2 way SLI officially supported" announcement. My criteria is being able to play modern games with max settings never dropping below 60FPS (nothing ridiculous like 8x MSAA but like 2-4x is fine). If 2 1080's can pull this off then I'd love to save me some thousands of dollars. My decision is literally resting on people like you who are getting more than 2 cards. Thanks!

I won't have EK blocks till mid next week - also NVidia hasn't put up the site were we can unlock SLI (unless i missed something). I sadly can't close my loop without video cards in the mix frown.gif
But i'll test whatever you like. just note, the limits they talk about in games is for dx12 not dx11. So any dx11 testing (which will be all the game.. as no dx12 games support sli) might look better than what we see in the future.

I'm sure 2 1080s will do find, but maybe wait for the evga classified to have more volt options. I don't want on running more than 2ghz for every day running - so the normal 1080 and water should do the job.

Appreciate it. I'm hoping 2 1080's can pull it off but I'm kind of doubting it. I think we'll still need to go 3 way SLI until the Titan replacement drops then I'm confident 2 of those can maintain 4k 60 FPS. Still no 120hz 4k monitors anywhere in sight frown.gif will definitely need 3-4 Pascal Titans to pull that off.

I'll be in this club in a few weeks. Custom 1080 is the way to go. Why spend more money for less?

BTW, the Gainward GeForce GTX 1080 Phoenix has awesome box art. Reminds me of the old school artwork on gfx cards.
CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 100

What's it take to get an "Official" slapped on the front of this here thread?

Need to have a Mod make it an [Official} thread AFAIK... or just call it that and see. wink.gif We need to get our hands on a pascal bios tweaker. Running Titan X at stock voltage is fine, but bios tweaked to 1.274 really unleashed the TX...
