1080Ti FE died after installing 390.65

So, this morning, my Windows 10 1709 forcefully, with zero prompts and in the background upgraded NV driver to 390.65.
One of my 1080Ti FEs died an hour into regular usage (Blizzard HotS), not overclocked, not touched in any way.
The card is not even recognized by the board as plugged in.

Might be coincidental but beware.

My GPUsWarning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I've had that NVdriver since 1/8/18 (updated through Geforce experience) and my 1080ti is just fine. I honestly thing its just a coincidence, really sorry to hear you lost a 1080ti, are you running SLI?

Sorry to hear abour your dead card but it's highly unlikely that it was caused by the driver.

My CPU history

Start/Search > View Advanced System Settings > Hardware Tab > Device Installation Settings > No (your device might not work as expected)

That should disable that behavior. It's really stupid for Microsoft to enable it by default. I say it "should" disable it because your never know with 10 when it will be re-enabled or whatever...

I have been using 390.95 since the day it came out. On a 1080Ti and a 1080. No issues.
I did notice the fan making a little bit more noise, than the previous driver on the Ti, when playing The Division.

Yes, but it's better to delete it, since it's not likely to be related. Got only 1 out of 5 cards dead in the machine so probably not related.

I think some awareness is fine, and the title sums up pretty well what happened.
In case someone else runs into this issue this thread will be found on search engines etc
