Reps to the people that said just go with a two slot cooler, I feel that's where the price to performance is this gen due to the power and heat limitations of all the cards it doesn't seem like a 3 slot is worth it unless you really need that 1-2% extra however it comes at the cost of sagging and £100+ extra. I will just go with a ventus, will try get the OC version at a decent price and call it a day.
Yes, the power consumption between a 2080 and a 980 TI is a little higher, but not that much (250W vs 283W in your case).
In fact the same PSU power is recommended for both cards.

So unless your PSU is high on the edge and the 2080 is just pushing it over the limit (unlikely), looks like a faulty card.

About the sagging on a big 3 slot card, if your motherboard PCI-E slot is metal reinforced and the card has a good back/inner plates, there's nothing to worry about.

Hi guys, I have a question about my MSI RTX 2080 VENTUS 8G, I hope someone here with the same card can answer this.. Fan 1 is spinning about 10% slower under load than fan 2 with the stock fanprofile, is that normal? I ask this because fan 1 also makes a slight high pitched whining sound which I find annoying, so I wonder if the slower spinning is another indication it's faulty.. Fan 2 is completely silent when at idle speed (23%).. I'm thinking of RMAing the card because of the fan 1 issue, which would be a shame though as I'm otherwise very happy with the card.. It overclocks like a beast despite the socalled non-A chip.. 220Mhz on the core and 1000Mhz on the memory has been running flawless so far.. It keeps the core in games like The Division 2 well above 2000Mhz most of the time without any problems even after long periodes of play..

Thx..

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to undervolt my 2080 since it's starting to get hot, but I can't seem to get it working as I want.

I'm using MSI Afterburner to undervolt to 0.875, everyting seems fine and all but it doesn't apply the changes unless I lock the frequency/voltage (pressing L), making it not downclock when idle, does anyone have a solution for this? having to lock/unlock it manually every time is tiresome...

u must get all dots right from [email protected] to be aligned with that voltage. u started well with dots till [email protected] but then u left all other above 1900mhz ( just draw em under 1900mhz, on confirm they will align with 1900mhz that u target for ). how it is now, you left space for card to boost above 1900 mhz, since its not highest value in that curve. if u wish to undervolt and lock card to some voltage, you must make it so its highest value in curve, otherwise card will ignore its value and boost as much as its allowed by curve

Thanks for clearing that up. It underclocks at idle as it should and I shaved a good 8-10c under load.

Personally not a fan of mixing 2 different brands but it doesn't look bad at all.

That Duke is REALLY close to the HDD bay isn't it lol.

I just traded my Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 1:1 for a MSI Gaming X Trio as I really wanted to have all MSI parts for kind of like a theme in the build plus, easier to sync RGB this way as my boards also a MSI.

This card clocks horribly on stock, crashed in Metro Exodus @ 4k Ultra almost instantly on 2010 core and even 1995 crashes. 1980 seems to run fine with 8200 memory but that is... Literally +20 over stock boost.. also got REALLY hot. Like, 70c on 85% fanspeed hot.. Usually the MSI ones are amongst the coolest running cards.

So, ignoring the warranty sticker on the screw as I couldn't care less about the validity of those things in my country, I repasted and remounted it with Prolimatech PK-3.

It went from 70c @85% to 52c @62%.

Then, I pulled out the curve editor in MSI AB, maxed it out @ 1950 @ 1093mv.
Started pulling up the core clocks. Going from 1043mv to 1093mv means it can now run 2070 stable so far and even ran 2085 for a while.. seems like Turing really likes voltage lol.

It's now running 58c @ 64% with 2085/2070 core and 8200 mem with 1093mv and it's getting within 3% of the 109% powerlimit now in Metro Exodus (1080p supersampled to 4K)

Shame 1093mv is the hard cap.. the Gaming X Trio PCB / VRM would run 1,25v easily.. wonder if it could do like, 2200mhz then..

Cars:
-Crashed: (not my fault ) '94 Nissan 100NX GA16DE (a.k.a. NX1600). Renault Laguna Phase I facelift '99 1.6 K4M. (Broke a strut and smacked a tree).

-Current: '03 Suzuki Ignis Sport 1.5 M15A & '03 Peugeot 206CC 2.0 RFN fully riced.

Hey friends.

Anyone using an EVGA RTX 2080 XC ULTRA GAMING?

I am just asking for some feedback and experiences. Weirdly I can't find that much on the internet and I don't know if that card has some "known issues".

From thermals it seems like a good card. How are VRAM thermals?

The other card I am looking at would be the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2080 Twin Fan, but I feel like the EVGA XC Ultra is worth the (in my case) 50€ upgrade.

Weirdly those 2 are on sale right now for an acceptable price, but I am not sure if it is worth waiting for the SUPER announcement. Bit of an unfortunate timing for me here

I would wait, unless you really can't.

Super custom cards will prob be available in at max 1 month and for the same price you will get a considerable more powerful card according to specs / leaks.
