Ok. Show me some of those bad units.

For anyone who tries to flash Palit RTX 2080 Ti Dual (Non-A) Bios to Asus Rog Strix Non-A don't do it cause it soft-bricks the card probably because of the custom PCB.

Enermax 80+ gold units in the 2004-2008 years that were literally catching fire in people's computers. It was all over the internet. That brand was pretty well known for it. So much so that personally I would never ever allow any of their units in any of my computers today in 2020, even if they are titanium or whatever. Dell had used them in their desktops for a number of years and then after the fire problem and some dells catching fire they dropped em. Anyway.. this whole power supply discussion is pretty far off topic from this thread I think, isn't it?

Anyone and their fox can do 80+ gold. Show me bad platinum/titanium units.

Blah blah 2080Ti is the best gaming GPU. I'd love to have one.

Well, that's done. Kraken G12 + X52 push-pull mounted. I'll post some pics later.

As for results. I did NOT expect that. At all. Fans on 100% for a quick test. With stock Phoenix GS air on 2070Mhz 1.093v with EVGA FTW3 Ultra BIOS with 100% fanspeed it ran in the mid 60's and loud as heck.

Now with fans on 100% on the Kraken as a quick test it didn't even hit 40c.. I made a super silent fan curve and it stabilized temps at 48c on 37% fanspeed.. I did buy a EK GPU 4 pin to standard PWM adapter cable and run the rad fans off the cards PWM controller so I can control rad fans through Afterburner.

Also, where 2085Mhz 1.093v would crash in 10 minutes and 2100+ Mhz wouldn't even load a game properly it now runs 2100Mhz on 47c just fine so far for a couple of minutes which it never did before lol..

I had to cut a LOT of heatsinks for the VRAM and VRM to size because they are too high to fit under the brackets and the corners overlap the VRAM.

Also had to go through my stash of old random aluminium heatsinks from random cards and motherboards and such and cut up a bunch of them for the chokes, VRM and such.
Can't ever have enough heatsinks lol.

Also, I got the stock Phoenix backplate to fit as well. I had to remove the spacers in the middle of the backplate that normally holds around the core but it fits with them removed just fine.

EDIT: Did a few runs of my current favorite power and stability testing benchmark Superposition. It passes a run on 2190Mhz but has some black artifacts here and there. Did another run on 2175Mhz, a lot less artifacts but still some visible. On 2160Mhz they are completely gone.
I also didn't run 100% fanspeed so it got up to about 42c on ~48% on the radiator fans. Got 10216 on 1080p Extreme.

Only problem now with the EVGA BIOS is powerlimit again. It does occasionally hit 124% and drops to like, 2115-2145Mhz so.

Once my new PSU comes in tomorrow I'll go back to the KFA2BIOS as that reads over 10% lower so it shouldn't throttle anymore.

Are those heatsinks permanently attached with thermal adhesive? Or removable later?

Removable, the Enzotechs come with pre-applied thermal tape which is actually very high quality stuff. The others are applied with Akasa thermal tape. The big cut-to-size sheets of it.

I did the finger test on the VRM and even after 30 minutes of looping Superposition they barely get warm to the touch on 380w. Nice.

I'm going back to the KFA2 BIOS now and testing some more. PSU isn't here yet but as long as I don't load the CPU too much it should hold.

EDIT: Tried the KFA2, still the same issues I had with it even tho i'm controlling radiator fans now. 41% minimum fanspeed which is 1400RPM on my push-pull 120mm's. Not exactly quiet for idle. I mean, it's perfectly do-able under load but idle?

Plus, the power limit is way higher, it barely touches 100% now of the 126% available but the score in Superposition actually was 200 points worse then with the EVGA BIOS even tho that limited slightly. Also, coil whine with KFA2, not with EVGA. I'm going back to the EVGA one. Let the limit stay at 380w. This way I have all the benefits of 1.093v and lower temperature and IF it ever gets into a game or situation where it wants to draw 400w+ endagering the card it will throttle itself. Sounds like a perfect plan for fun and safety

I mean, I can try XOC just for the heck of it... (Who am I kidding, it's already flashing)

EDIT2: It does not like 1.125v and like, 500w of power draw. It runs it, and barely gets any hotter, got up to 46c there at 50% fanspeed, but it isn't very stable lol. It barely clocks any higher, like 2190Mhz is possible now, but the risk is quite large drawing over 500w all over the place and the improvement is tiny. It gained about 100 points at best.

So yeah, back to EVGA FTW3 Ultra. That works by far the best out of all the BIOS for my card and application. The KFA2 would be better if fanspeed wasn't locked to 41% with 1400 RPM..
