As long your cooling is adequate you won't run in troubles, you can find the bios on the link above
Thanks for replying. That 90.02.17.40.88 XOC comes with a warning that it's only for benching and not an every day bios and also that it can brick an FTW3 so I'm too scared to take that risk. Is it possible to flash the "green" KPE bios 90.02.30.00.77 to a FTW3 to get the power target max from 124% to 144%?

Nothing is wrong with gaming on a 7700k with a 2080 Ti. I noticed practically no difference from going from my 6700k to the 9900k when gaming.

I have just moved my Computer from my office to another room. About the same time it got hotter outside, (room temperature without AC about 25°C).

I did all my testing with the card back when I got it. Unfortunately I don't really remember all the values, BUT, yesterday I played Senua's Sacrifice and noticed the temperatures hitting about 86°C. I turned the game off because that seemed awefully high, and I cannot remember if I ever had these temperatures.

I was playing on a 4k screen.

I launched Battlefield V as I think I remember not exceeding 80°C, but the card got hotter in that game too.

Does the roomchange and the change in ambient temperatures really make this much of a difference?

The card doesn't seem to throttle and just runs at 86°C, but I kind of don't feel comfortable with the card running this hot.

I opened the case and directed a room ventilator at the open case, which helped with temperatures a little. I brought it down to 81-82.

This still seems like a bad solution. Also ambient temps are at 53°C.

What do you guys think about these temps?

Hi there, xoc bios won't brick your ftw3, as long temperature are fine you won't have any problem. I've flashed it on 4 cards, 2 references and 2 ftw3 and still using it daily on my ftw3.
Also no, unfortunately other normal kingpin bioses like green, yellow and red won't work on your card since ftw3 is missing 3rd power connector. It will flash but card should not work/boost frequencies properly

OK thanks again. I'm thinking of starting with something a little more gentle - what is the "next best bios" for the FTW3 and do you know where I can find it please? I've seen mention of a 400w (MSI?) or a 380w Galax) bios but I don't want to grab the wrong one lol.

Also, if I do summon the courage to do the XOC bios, will that start eating power like crazy? As it would be a 24/7 bios I would not want to be running 500w+ just when using firefox lol!

Last question - if I flash to a non-EVGA bios do I lose PX1 functionality?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for helping me along :-)

hey guys.. throw your 2080Tis at this month's FAT! The card pulls over 3 million PPD! Even run it in what would be your normal down time for the 3 day event.

When I say dud... I mean it goes as high as 1850Mhz and sounds like a ******* jet engine just to keep the temps under 80C.

My 1080Ti was whisper quiet and could hit 2000mhz easily.

So that's what I mean by dud. It's loud, hot, and doesn't clock nearly as high as I think it should. I don't know what I should do with it.
1850 will translate to 2100+
All 2080Tis run hot, I had two on air in an Enthoo Elite case for a short time while waiting for block for the strix cards to come out. This is why they have a power limit so tight. Any load at all and I had to leave the door open. Put blocks on them and they idle at 27C and load up at 40C. They are not 1080Tis. Compare benches from both. I got about a 30% performance increase between the two.

Yep, they do run hot like hell except for the 240mm AiO versions and even these need a custom fan curve.

I've seen some benches claiming that Radeon VII uses less power than 2080Ti. Is that true?
