If you install a new video driver once a year, then run DDU in safe mode before installing the new one.

If you install drivers regularly, just install over the previous driver. It will be fine 99% of the time, and for the odd time that you do encounter problems, run a DDU in safe mode then.

Nope. Install new version straight on top. Always have since 8800GTX days as well.
