How about a wooden/plastic ruler. It's a Non-conductive item that is narrow with a flat, blunt edge to push down on the latch.

i just unlatched it w/only using the two fingers holding the pen. - just now, reading this thread.

Try doing that w/a Noctua DH-15 or Phanteks PH-TP14Pe CPU cooler and a video card w/a backplate. I couldn't even SEE the PCIe latch w/those things installed.
