GTX970 Throtling issues
I have a GTX 970 that seeems to throttle as the fan speed goes up not the temperature.
I`ve had 100s of gpus before and i have never seen this.
So even if the card is running cool say low 60c if the fan is set to 100% it will drop from 1100~ core clock to 700-800s
Memory is not affected only the core clock
This is from a GTX 970 Strix from asus. I had contacted support and they said to just run it on their silent profile on gpu tweak but on a hot summer day this seems to cause multiple issues.
I've tried after burner as well as different driver packages from the looks of it there seems to be an actuall issue witht he card.
The card has been tested in 3 different pc's and has the same issue with eeach one of them 2 where windows 10 one windows 7
Has anyone else ever encoutered something like this would a bios flash possiblly fix this?
I have done some testing and found out that the fan speed actually controls the overall power usage
when the fans are at 100% they lower the TDP from 100% to 90% going from stock 1113 core clock down to 860. In my 13 years of IT i have never seen this before. I'm pretty stumpted as what to do from this point on.
