6900k and 2080 Ti?

Howdy fellas,

I've just decided to upgrade my MSI Gaming X 1080 Ti (which I sold for a good price) to a 2080 Ti by MSI, Trio X to be exact.

My 6900k runs smoothly at 4 GHz Turbo Boost 3.0 and outperforms my friends overclocked 8700k easily. Do you think it was a good idea to pair the 6900k with a 2080 Ti or would I only tickle it completely with a 9900k?

My PC is kind of for work and Gaming, that's why initially got the 6900k, which has been a solid investment so far by the way 🙂

you're fine... you may see some 4k issues, but who doesn't?! (issues in 4k = turning things down when you spent $1500! on the 5th gen of 4K capable card)

I actually paid 900 Euros from a second hand market, 2 weeks old, which made me do the upgrade because I want to try out some RTX stuff.

Shouldn't it be more problematic during 1080p stuff than 4k where the GPU is the bottleneck?

I guess I'll do some benchmarks when the card arrived tomorrow. Is there a dedicated benchmark for BFV?

Is the gain margin compared to the 9900k big during gaming or less than 5%?

The 6900K is a solid CPU, I tend to keep mine up until the 40 series graphics card whenever that comes out in a decade. Sure my 8086K beats it when it comes to single core performance on older games but the 6900K is still great overall.

in theory, yes... in practice, with that kinda hardware? No. maybe 480p

nice find, I'm on the hunt for a used one now as well. Gonna phase out my EK blocked 1080tis on the low low & hope to find a used 2080ti for ~$850USD.

You should be getting lucky on some reference cards, even lower than 850, but now is still the peak to sell the 1080 Tis, in two weeks, it's gonna be getting harder. I made 600 off mine.

It's probably the best investment I've had made on a CPU even though they said it is overpriced when it came out. Does wonders for me in Cubase, Pro Tools and in Gaming. In Pro Tools, the DAW crashes before I even barely reach half of my CPUs load.

yep, i plan to list then to go this week.

Hoping someone from OCN will reach out so I don't gotta put them on Ebay. I've got no issues with them going @ $500 each, with block.
