New GPU in build, ADVISE NEEDED!

Hi All,

First of all I want to say, Im a huge fan of this platform and finally made an account. I have alot of respect for everyone that is taking the time to read and advice each other.

I made this topic as I need some advice on purchasing new GPU for below build:

Intel Core i7-8700K Boxed - 4.8Ghz OC 1.24v
Asus ROG Strix Z370-E GAMING
G.Skill Trident Z F4-3200C14D-16GTZ
Corsair RM750x (2018) White
Corsair Hydro H100i PRO RGB 240mm
Asus ROG Swift PG279Q - 165Hz
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX

I prefer playing games on 2K but if not possible 1080p is fine on my PG279Q - 165hz - GSYNC

I would like to play the new Call Of Duty on high fps, therefore I need a new GPU as I sold my GTX 1070 Gaming X to a good friend.

Budget around ~600EU

Which card would you advice? 2060 X , 2070 Super or 2080? And Which brand? MSI , Gigabyte etc.

I will be back from my Holiday on 6th of sep and would like to make a purchase before that date!

Kind regards,

Robert

I have the same monitor and after looking at both the 2070/80 Super i went with the 2070 Super since its better value and it was good enough for my needs

I tested my card with more than 50 games and benchmarks both old and new in 1440P and with max settings and everything else cranked up and only 3-4 games ran at around 60 FPS everything was way above 60 FPS and often more than 100 FPS depending on the game

As for the brand after looking at everything i went with the MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio since its not one of the most expensive cards and the cooler is really good
Highest temps i saw after a whole day of testing in a hot room was 70c

Edit: I have all my test results in a notepad file on my PC if you are interested in the numbers

Ive always purchased MSI GPU's in the past , good experience with them!

The MSI RTX 2070 Super gaming X is sold out everywhere atm and is priced at €625

The MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X trio is still in stock for a price of €739

The MSI RTX 2080 SUPER Gaming X trio is still in stock for a price of €770

The 2080 Ti I just to expensive.. €1200+

Difficult decision.. Do I need to save my €625.. and spent another €155 for the 2080 super? Will I feel the difference for the additional €155..

Still alot the think about.

You could go AMD and do air cooling. Save about 200 euros and get a 2080 Super. @ 1440p, the cpu wont matter too much if its modern enough.

It depends on what you play and how much you play?
For my use case there was no way the 2080 Super was worth it so i went with the 2070 Super

I will need Nvidia for my G-sync monitor.. also I already have a watercooling running so I will not save any money with sellling it and purchase a air cooler.

My mistake, its already built. My advice: get the fastest card you can afford with the longest warranty. 1440p/high res is very demanding.

I feel you. I just want to play the new COD on high fps for smooth competitive gameplay.

Of course I also do some video editting but that does not require a high end GPU..

If you want to see how the Super cards will do, the PC beta is on the 19th. There will be benchmarks, but as of right now we're all guessing. The new engine has not been publicly tested yet.
