Overclocking cpu and gpu advice

I’m new to overclocking and need sound advice. I bought my first PC, an Acer Predator Orion 3000 with an intel Core i5 9500F processor and a nvidia gtx 1660ti graphics card. I wanted it to play VR games and most are great, but Ive bought Asgards Wrath and It can only play on the most basic settings. I realise the requirements are core i7 and 1880... i hoped that overclocking the cpu and gpu would help my pc to turn the settings up a notch to make the game more enjoyable. Ive tried on top settings and it’s astounding to look at. But its laggy as hell and it crashed. Ive had a read of some guides and have msi afterburner but the guides seem off, i cant change the voltage. I tried downloading Heaven to benchmark but the download didnt run. Could anyone give me good tips to overclock, and will the results be decent? Many thanks.
