So, i'm flying home, and planniong to take my PC's hard drive with me...

and the graphics card... But is it worth it? i mean, i was thinking of taking it and my PSU, using a frankenstein build to power the GFX with my current PSU, and then enjoying better graphics... is that a good idea or will i just be bottlenecked to pieces? the system at home's got an X600XT, at stock.

Yes you will be bottlenecked pretty badly, but you'll still see an improvement from an x600xt, although how much I'm not sure.

Why can't you just take your whole rig?

excess baggage costs, plus i'm flying on 2 planes.

if i could, i would in a heartbeat, but it's starting to seem impractical

Well, your benchmarks will be decidedly less impressive with such a processor, however when it comes to what settings you'll be able to comfortably run games at, that is almost entirely affected by your graphics card's power ... any 64-bit AMD processor is capable of 30fps in 99% of the games out there.
