i'm hoping to get a 750i SLI FTW board in a bit, and port my PC over to that board... the plan is to eventually bag another 8800GT for some SLI lovin'...

i know SLI is best utilised at high resolutions, but then what about something like 1680x1050 and 1360x768? will the SLI still work at that res to allow me to max out most games, despite the low res or will one 8800GT suffice?

I have two 8800GT XXX Alpha Dog Editions on a 750i with 1680x1050, and it worked really good. You should be fine. One will suffice, two will give you better frame rate, in MOST games.

a Q6600 and dual 8800gt's will max about 80% of the games out there. I'd say go for it.

so it'll work at even 1360x768? (that's the res of my other monitor.)

1680x1050 would be great with 8800gts, the 1360x768 would be sort of bottlenecked. Like you wouldn't be able to get all your power of the 8800gts.

Why do you say 1360x768 would be bottlenecked when it is a lower resolution?
He will be fine.
