er..whats the point with SLI for CS 1.6?
Just one of your cards is overkill for that game

Heres a list of the games that are optimized for SLI. SLI should work for any game since you can create a custom profile for it.

So when I see these benchies where SLi is barely getting better than the one card version. Is that because of the rez and other settings or is there just not that much more of a performance increase? Just wondering as I thought about getting 2x7800gtx if the x1800xt wasn't up to high enough performance. I didn't know if 2x7800gtx would even be worth the dough b/c that IS a lot of dough.

Does anyone know how you make a game run in SLi? Is it by the type of graphics the game has, or does the developer actually have to provide SLi support specifically? I want to know if FFXI can run in SLi, because its not on that list.

Newer games will usually be sli enhanced, but even the ones that arnt, and in older ones, will still (for the most part, if needed) utilize the dual video cards.

Would you say all upcoming PC games can utilize SLi technology?

SLI is a software based config,Crossfire is a hardware based config. That's why the Crossfire is expected to benefit even older games as well as a larger base of the newer stuff. For the guy a few posts above, 2 7800GTX cards is a waste of money in my opinion. 1 card runs flawlessly and 2 cards gives little to no benefit for most apps and can even slightly hurt performance at low settings. Plunking that much money into 1 technology is never a good idea because by the time 2 7800 gtx cards would be nice to have, there's something new out that leaves your 7800's obsolete.
