yah, can anyone give a definitive reason why they would do something like that?

Maybe because most people buy the GTX 480 over the 470. At least it seems that way lol

Anyways I doubt this article is right. The GTX 470 is priced just right and performs good. The only way this would be true is if Nvidia is just not making any money on the 470s.

Maybe thay are paving the way for a GTX475? There is just too big a gap between the 465 and 480 for them to just leave it like that... Something new is coming out other than the GTX490...
