Haha fail nVidia They could be winning but people will go to ATI due to there fast, cheap, COOL, performance lol... Man I would like to see the 470 still there though.

I proudly oppose all legislation to destroy our freedoms and support anything to protect our privacy online and off.
Hope I've added something to the conversation!

What will hopefully happen:

Discontinue 470
Launch GTX 465 @ $250
Drop the price of the 480 by $100 to $399
Introduce GTX 490 at $500

There is nothing in that article to show Nvidia denied discontinue of production of the GTX 470.

Only thing they stated was that the information was incorrect on using the 470 chips for a 490 therefore depleting the stock of 470 cards.

That's not denying that the GTX 470 will be discontinued as we know it. Which is what this article is talking about, a GTX 470 card ceasing to exist.

Maybe, just maybe it's good to keep an open mind on both sides. Who knows what NV has in store for us. They have been full of surprises here lately in my book. Both good and bad.

No way nVidia is going to lower GTX480 to 400$. Its much easier for them to do this. Leave GTX480 @ 500 and get GTX490 @ 600

They won't discontinue it. That's dumb.

The only reason I could see why is because they get low yields, and not enough match up to be 470's so they make them 465's. But even that doesn't really make sense, because you might as well sell the cards that would make it as a 470 as a 470 to get more money.
