if the price is the same, why not? better temps and performs overall better for the same price as a stock gtx 470 is good in my book.

I read somewhere that EVGA would send you a free backplate if you had a card registered at their site.

No, just the bracket and isn't free, you have to pay for the shipping ($5). No word from the backplate but i doubt they lend them for free.

so the consensus is it's a good deal?

the point is not to buy it for the higher speeds - we all know how to OC.

the point is for the bracket, and for the backplate, both of which drop temps.

I messed up when I tried to order (didn't even checkout) and wound up getting the bracket anyways lol

Also an EVGA ECP v3 which is worth like 40$? Don't know why they sent me that
