What was the problem with the fan in the first place?

Not sure what it's meant to be fixing?

Is it possible that the voltage goes a bit too high and causes some Throttling?

under load my voltage goes to 1.274 and just stays there no matter the clock, but when the GPU is 100% in Firestrorm it would never stay at 1504 and throttle down.

GTX 980 TI G1 GPU.

I can't use sli yet since when i start a benchmark with my sli active the pc immediatly shutdown.... my 1000W psu is not enough. I got a 1200W comming.

Hi Thanks for the feedback!

No SLI with 1000W, bummer you have to wait.. You might get away with SLI with the STOCK BIOS though if you want to go back to stock until it comes in.

As far as the voltage throttling, I suppose that it is possible however we haven't really heard of that with this BIOS. We we did before we got the BIOS unlocked in the ALPHA stages but all the logs posted (and there's a bunch from V1/V2BETA in this thread back some pages) didn't show any throttling at all actually. tongue.gif

If you had your POWER % slider maxxed during your tests (if not, do it and re-test) then my guess is that you could possibly have a "low quality" power supply and under heavy loads it is getting stressed too much and not able to provide "CLEAN POWER". It is not uncommon for odd results to be seen with lower quality power supplies and power variations.

It appears that the 980Ti G1 can be QUITE POWER HUNGRY when using a modified BIOS, overclocking and under load. It will be interesting to see your results with the new PS! smile.gif

Here is the difference between the fan profiles in the current and new bios from your link. At a quick glance it looks like the fan was turning on before 60c and they meant it to be off up to 60c. Also they seemed to make the rest of the fan profile less aggressive I suppose? I didn't see any other changes but I only took a quick glance.

New BIOS is on the right.

New BIOS is on the right.

They just lowered the tip in point(on start point) by 4 deg C .
this will also slightly raise rpm at mid temps too .

I did the same with my bios, but also raised rpm rate (rpm12) at on start point .

I think the voltage 1.274V might be a bit too much for 1504...... I could do 1504 with my cards with +50mv or 87mv depending on the card.

OK looking at the new BIOS now.

Increased fan start speed to 59 degreees
decreased max RPM from 4200 to 3600

that's it...

I guess that was already posted. But yeah I checked through the power and boost tables and everything and there are no other changes.

Well what do you expect from a bunch of noobs! tongue.gif
It's Laithan who should be supplying official G1 bios updates. (Put in an application man!!)

Imagine if we had such bioses at release! G1 would DESTROY the competition. People would go insane, dancing in the streets!
It's just an opportunity waiting to be taken! tongue.gif

That is odd that they altered the 100% amount , raising it from 3600 to 4200 .
Normally you set the 100% rpm to = close to max fan speed .
they could of just altered rpm13 to 3600 and per13 to 87% and get same results.

Oh wait, I got that backwards they raised it to 59/60c , didn't look closely to dates /version .
Anyway that is going to run hotter .
