If so, how was your experience?

Just looking at their amazing prices, for instance msi gtx 780 ti gaming edition. On Newegg its £400, in the UK its close to the £550 mark. Now my question is this; are newegg products based in the UK, or are these prices just converted from USD and once it arrives in the UK you have to pay tax etc?

you know you will have to pay shipping fees and all that will probably make it more expensive then? You pay all the shipping fees with ordering stuff

Had to do a quick search, First time I ever heard of Newegg in the UK - http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/23/newegg-launching-in-europe-uk/

Looks like it's legit, If it's anything like when best buy came to the UK it'll be you pay what they say the price is. I doubt Newegg will compete with its US offering with the USD to GBP conversion. they'll just compete with what scan, ebuyer, amazon are offering. so expect prices similar to that.

Ahh, Ive discovered the truth. I knew it was too good to be true.

Whilst Newegg does ship to the UK now (Newegg displays in USD, AUSD and GBP), anytime you click on anything decent it says shipping restrictions:

Shipping Limitations
We are unable to ship this product because:

This product may require a specialty license for export
This product may be classified as a dangerous good
This product may be oversized and/or overweight
This product may exceed monetary limitations imposed by the selected carrier
This product may not be allowed in your country

What an absolute joke.

No im not specifically looking for anything JUST yet. Ive been contemplating ordering from Newegg for a while.

Also guys just for info, the tax and fees are added to the final price when you add your post code in the cart.

I.e I just added a 4770k just for the fun of it to my cart, price £203. Bargain consdering its £250 in the UK. But once you add your post code, estimated taxy and fees are £42 and £10 postage brings total price to £254.

Nice idea Newegg, just a shame in practice it makes no logical sense to order anything from you whilst we have to pay such high tax and import duty frown.gif

Ouch, your initial suspicions were correct btw

Total: £133.77

Makes it even worse because its an "Estimate". I don't know how they plan on competing with amazon :-/

Yeah its stupid. Also Ive noticed the only actual products where you could save some money through ordering from newegg all have these stupid shipping restrictions! High end NV gpus, high end Intel Xeon chips etc they dont ship any of them. Which in itself is rubbish because they would gladly ship a 3770k or 4770k to me, but wont ship a £700 Intel Xeon chip. So maybe you think ok there is a price limit as to why they dont ship, but no try ordering a cheap £65 GPU from newegg and it says again shipping restrictions.

"Apologies, we cannot ship this item to your country due to the fact you would save money".

You can easily find out the VAT and Import Duty that would apply to a product from the US on http://www.dutycalculator.com/

You should anticipate adding 20% VAT to both the item itself and the shipping then another roughly 6% depending on the item (a CaseLabs Case was 20% VAT and 6% duty). Then don't forget the £8 bill from Parcelforce to tell you there is a bill to pay.

Oh, and check the warranty - you may have to pay to return a duff item to the store you bought it from if it is faulty.
