Two RX-580s for $100 each = more performance than a 1080ti. For a casual gamer who doesn't play much games besides competitive moba shooters and emulators this was a no brainer for me.

Why do board manufacturers add so many PCI-E slots if we are never going to utilize them?

No I'm not. If I could run 300fps on overwatch, I could careless if I can't use crossfire on call of duty, a bethesda game, or any other boring game. Only need performance where it matters. Using just $200 is the also the point?
