GPU Upgrade for my system

Hey All,

I haven't been active in years as I've been very busy with studies.

I'm running the following system I originally built in 2013.
Since then, I upgraded the HDD to an SSD, and also replaced/upgraded the PSU.

PU: Intel Core i5-2500K (running smoothly at 4.4ghz) under an H60.
GPU: AMD HD 7950
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
RAM: G.SKILL RipjawsX DDR3 1600 C9 2x4GB (8GB)
MBD: Asus P8P67
PSU: Corsair CX 650 M

Now I started running into issues when I upgraded my monitor to a massive 27" 2560x1440 display.

I realized that it seems that my old graphics card is struggling with games these days.

I mostly play Warzone with friends, CS:GO, and other FPS games.

I did some research and it seems like perhaps one of the following would be the best, i'm just looking for more input from you guys on this, and want to make sure that a new GPU won't be seriously bottle necked by the current system.

1650 Super 4GB
1660 Super 6GB
RX 580 8GB

EDIT: I'll also add 5500XT 8GB as it seems to be the only other contender in this price range.

I'm leaning more towards a 1650 Super because it seems that is by far the best value for performance, it seems that it matches or outperforms the 580 in most games, and i'm not sure I even need the 1660 super for the types of games im playing. I just want to be able to get a stable and playable FPS.

I was also wondering if I should throw in another set of 4x2 ripjaws to bring my ram up to 16GB.

Thoughts? will a 1650 Super be enough? or do you recommend something else.

Thanks.

Those cards are a bit bad for QHD, you should look at 5700/2060S 5700XT/2070S.

The 2060/5600XT also works as entry level ones.

Please don't get the 1650 the 4GB will cripple it, 5600xt is a good budget performer but 2060s/5700 are the actually recommended minimums for 1440p

What's your budget?
Makes no sense to move further until you decide how much you can and want to spend at most.

The whole machine could use an upgrade. If your bottleneck is only at GPU, well you're lucky and any of the overpriced GPUs these days: 5700/XT, 2060/70/Super will do.

The Corsair CX650M was released in 2016 so unless you bought it later its not from 2013 or you got a CX600M which is not very good and should be replaced if you got one
As for the GPU anything less than a 2070 Super is going to be pressed to do 1440P with max settings in demanding games

I mentioned that I replaced the PSU.

It is a CX650M, I purchased it in 2018.

sorry if my post was unclear.

I was hoping to spend less than $200.

Could I just play the games at 1080 in order to not have to purchase the more expensive cards?

Considering the games you like to play, the resolution and the refresh rate - I'd look towards the 5700 XT or 2070 . Just my opinion.

It seems like the cards that are best for the higher resolution are quite honestly out of my price range.

What would be the best card for less than $250? I honestly can't spend 300-450 on a card rn.
