The cards cost about the same as their AGP counterparts. Backwards compatibility might be possible since a few companies are trying to make a bridge from PCIe to AGP, but who knows when that'll be done. The video capture applications and 3D rendering possibilities make it useful for professionals, but the standard gamer doesn't need it. And I really don't think SLI is all that great of an idea to revive, a dual-core card would be more economical, useful and faster.
