Hi,

Been looking for a decent game to play while waiting for BF3, I've seen many good reviews about The Witcher 2 but also some bad ones.

The main complaints I have seen is that the combat system is slow, unresponsive and more so a "chore" than anything. People say it's not as powerful feeling as it should have been.

Now I understand the story is the main element in a good RPG so in no way am I after just a "hack and slash" game. I am also aware that there is a learning curve to the combat and it needs to be strategic. I just thought since the game looks so dam good that it should be complimented with good combat gameplay.

Seen so much talk of it being bad that it is stopping me from buying it.

Honestly is it decent? I know the story is but is the combat enjoyable?

Cheers

Honestly, the best RPG that I've ever played. I don't see any problems with the combat, it's a little different from titles like Dragon Age and so on... You only have two handed swords so it feels like you're using one, it's a bit slow, like every game that you can use a two handed sword/mace. Also I find the use of signs refreshing, you can always find new ways to kill and play a bit with your enemys.

The story is near perfect and there is lots of choices that determine pretty different outcomes, so you can play the game over and over again without repeating content (besides the side quests).

Just a downside, in the early stage of the game you'll find the combat a bit hard in Normal and to easy in Easy.

Hope I helped wink.gif

One of the best RPGs, if not the best, I have ever played, no complaints about the combat system.

This sucks, so many diff responses. Bad thing is that the games too expensive to just try for myself, because if it sucks then it's a nice waste of $$ if I hate it.

Seriously having trouble finding a decent game after finishing almost all the good ones, been stuck on rank 50 too long on BFBC2 and there's just nothing else good out there that lasts more than 5 hours.

Guess I'll need to wait for BF3, Aliens: Colonel Marines, Metro Last Light and the next Bioshock.

This sucks.

I would say that it sucks quite a bit for about 2 hours and than it becomes engrossing in the options/tactics available. It's a normal learning curve for something that's unique.

Yeah, the combat controls feel really delayed/unresponsive. I didn't really think much of it at first until I tried Alice in Madness, and it's hard to go back. The controls in Alice are sharp and very reactive, and it makes the gameplay itself much more enjoyable.

Great game but yes, the combat is a let-down.
