CPU/GPU Upgrade Recommendations for 1440p Ultrawide Beast

Hey Y'all,

I'm looking to upgrade my rig soon and need some recommendations on hardware.
I play mostly PUBG with a mix of Ultra/Low settings, but the occasional 1% and 0.1% frametimes kill me sometimes. GTAV is also in the heavy rotation, and RDR2 probably too in the near future. I can see Ray Tracing Minecraft too.
I'd like to move to all Ultra settings @1440 p with buttery smooth framerates if possible.

I'm currently running a Ryzen 1600 @ 3.8 Ghz, and an MSI GeForce 1070 Gaming X with a +100Mhz Core / +500Mhz Memory OC.
Monitor is a 1440p ultrawide, going to be adding a second 100Hz ultrawide, or a 1440p 144Hz monitor soon too.

I keep eyeing a 2080ti and a Ryzen 3900X, because being an enthusiast is fun, albeit expensive.
How much of a difference in PUBG (and other FPSs running at Ultra settings) would a 3700X and a 2080/2080S make over the overkill solution?

I've got an Asus Prime X370 Pro motherboard and a Seasonic Prime Titanium 750W PSU, so I should have the power to support any of the above.

Thanks!
~Kain~

Hi, I am running a Ryzen 7 3700X with a ASUS TUF Gaming X570 motherboard, 32GB DDR4 3000MHz ram and a MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio. I personally have not seen any issues performing in PUBG comparison to my 9900K don't see much of a different. Only issue I run 1080p @ 144Hz and 1ms monitors. Curious how much of a different will be with 1440p. I run a Gold 850PSU but a 750 Platinum should be more than enough.

Cool, thanks for the info! For your memory are you running 4 x 8GB Single Rank sticks, or 2 x 16GB Double Rank sticks?
