RDR2 failure to launch

Alright, I've got a 3700x, X570 Pro wifi currently on BIOS F6c, and a 1080 Ti with the latest driver. Who do I need to direct my disappointment at for the RDR2 fiasco, Gigabyte, Rockstar, AMD or all three?

uninstall NV Experience, exception in firewall, exception in AV.

game wouldn't launch for me on 1080ti or 2080ti with experience installed.

many games won't. pretty sure NV's up to some shady stuff via experience. thinking they're preventing piracy, when really they're just preventing brand new and ancient titles from working.

NV Experience isn't installed, and both firewall and AV are taken care of. Still fails to launch.

Rockstar.
Even if you can get it running thats not going to be the end of your problems.
Game really wasnt ready for release. Crashes all over the show. And very poor performance.
The default gfx config had my 1080ti running at 40fps. Had to switch to DX12 and mixture of mostly medium and couple high settings just to stay over 60fps.

I'd say either Rockstar or Nvidia. CPU's/motherboards are hardly ever at fault with these kinds of things.

And as an bonus 3rd option, yourself. Buying games day one is setting yourself up for disappointment, just wait a week or so till the kinks are worked out.

Yeah I figured that was going to be the case unfortunately. That, and their half hearted attempt at ultrawide support.

I usually wait but this one got the better of me. Lesson learned.

^^ he's not wrong, though a little on the salty side.

great example of this, i've had zero issues on 5700xt, 1080ti, & 2080ti. Also, DX12 runs like arse for me on all three. Vulkan looks & runs way smoother. (i'm running in 4K too)

The day 2 patch also made a huge difference in performance. I'm now running mostly very high/ultra @ 9/10s res in 4K, 60+ all day. most metrics & videos going around are from day 1, so check the dates.

the game will become a benchmark standard once they work out the bugs, and optimize a bit more.

i'm on a 9700k, 5700xt/1080ti/2080ti. using MWB & defender for virus protection. Windows is 100% up to date. newest NV driver via clean installer, no experience, no ansel, no nothing but driver & physX.

don't hold a grudge. it's really well done once you get the 40+ graphics settings dialed in to your liking. I'd highly recommend using the internal resolution tool as well. set it to like 9/10s or similar.

I don't shill for much around here, aside from Mayhem's stuff, but i'll shill for RDR2 all day & night. More publishers should be like R*.

also note, the day 2 update removed the need to reboot the engine after major FX changes, so if anyone still sees the restart option, you may wanna get a license.

Don't feel too bad, I've gotten burned before as well.

Basically every game gets released in beta these days and the first customers are pretty much the final beta testers.
