Why can't some games have cheats/hacks ?

How is it that games can be released and cracked in no time, but no one can figure out how to add weapon cheats ??? I watch some game dev talks, but I've yet to see anything in-depth on cheating/hacking/cracking

I want to play Dead Space 2, and Dying Light. Both games I started a few times but only got 1/2 way before having computer problems, and not making savegame copies.

I'd like to retry them, but both are a major grind, and withoput quick saves. So I wish I had a weapons/ammo cheat.

I see "trainers" for Dying Light, but IDK about them or if they are trojans, etc. Anyone know about that ?

Depends how the game handles players objects.

If its a single player game then its easy as since you just edit the memory space that the game is reading from and change values to what you want.
If its a online game then they will have checks in place to make sure your not messing with that stuff. And them in some cases they only store those values on the server so you cant edit them.

If you need to ask this sort of stuff then I cant really point you any further then using a trainer some one else has made since the leaning curve is way too much to just use cheat engine and make your own hack.

The amount of ammo saved, must be basically encrypted I guess, otherwise it would be trivial to change, like editing an ini file

Doing something like modifying a quantity of something in your inventory in a game where data is stored locally is pretty easy. I do it all the time for really grindy games that don't have trainer support, or the particular options I want.

Editing a value like exp gained after battle is usually pretty easy as well. You might not want max level after battle, when all you want to do is level 1 character up to be the same as the rest of the group.

I use cheathappens for my trainers. I've paid for a lifetime membership but I think they do offer free trainers. I'm sure there are many other sites that are legit.

I started using cheat engine years ago, before it was popular.

While I'm still not good enough to make my own trainers, or anything advanced, I started off with a simple tutorial on how to find and modify a gold value.

Stuff like stats, item quantities, etc are essentially the same as a gold value.

Like if you have a quantity of items that goes up to 99 or 255 max, you search for the amount on byte, change the value by buying/selling/using one, then search again until you narrow it down, then you can modify it.

Anything higher than 255 would be under 2 byte or 4 byte. Or possibly float. I've seen gold values on float before.

Let's say your character has 54 str stat, and is just about to level up. Search for 54, level up, you gained 4 str, so it's 58 now, search for 58, still too many on the list? Reload your save when you had 54 str, then search for that again, then repeat. Once you find the STR stat for that character, click the value and open the memory viewer, and youll find that the other stats are close by in the memory region, and you easily find them if you know what you're looking for.

I've never really had a problem finding cheats/trainers for single player games, even when the games are new. I was able to get one for RDR2 last week (the teleport option is a huge time saver for simple tasks) and that game is pretty new for PC. Games that are don't separate single player and multiplayer (like The Division) are harder to find cheats for because cheats aren't supposed to be used for multiplayer.

I haven't played dying light in a long time but I remember it being more of a co-op type multiplayer and me and my buddy used mods/scripts while playing together so I'm sure you can find a trainer for it.
