Hey guys, I’m not sure what’s going on but my Doom Eternal’s graphics look like ****. I’m running it on a fairly beefy system with an Asus Strix 1080ti at 1440p, max settings — and the graphics look very dated. There’s no contrast in the picture. The lava and the physics look like crap. It looks like an old game from 10+ years ago. Am I missing anything, The reviews I read said the game’s graphics were amazing. Frankly i think it looks worse than the previous Doom from a few years ago. I gotta reload it and see. Any graphics settings you guys recommend? I have everything maxed out, currently.

Kind regards

got screen shots?

do you do weird stuff in your NVCP like mess with texture perf settings, or similar?

game's pretty crisp over here. Just as crisp as 2016 was.

Thanks for the reply. I ran it on my TV, a 2017 Sony 900F which is 4K & HDR and it looks a little better. But I still think it looks dated. I’ll take some screenshots when I get. a chance. I am open to messing with all the settings. It’s crazy to me that other Bethesda games from a decade ago lije Skyrim can be made to look so good with mods. But in 2020 I don’t understand how this game; vanilla, can look so bad on a 1080ti + Alienware UHD monitor, even if it doesn’t have HDR. Like I said, theres absolutely no contrast, everything looks very arcady (which looks to be the style of the game) however in the reviews/pics online the picture quality looks much better. When you look below ffrom higher ground it’s god awful. The graphics in restricted areas look the worse— like a game from 2005.

What settings are you running? Have you adjusted brightness/gamma properly? there are a lot of HDR settings as well to go through. My first run looked muddy until I went in and dialed these in.

Everything is set on Ultra Nightmare. Gamma is fairly low, shading is fairly low, I've been messing with the settings. It looks okay, but i cant get any nice contrast in the picture going. What settings did you change to make it look better?

Im also messing with the monitor’s contrast and brightness to see if i can get it to look better.

Edit: If I set film grain to 50 and sharpening to 30 it actually is starting to look better. Should Chromatic Aberration be on?

TY

There isn't anything funny going on with the resolution scale slider? I think mine defaulted to 50%...

It leaves the variable resolution bs on by default, even though I had everything set to ultra nightmare, disable that setting and make sure the sliders are maxed.

I got be honest, I have not felt compelled to play the new Doom's. And I was given Doom SW when I was a teen. So many times did I make it to the end of the 1st episode, and clip into the hidden room, and get killed.

And then I never even got to play full doom, or 2 or 3, and then it was too old when I really got a good PC

But now IDK. Maybe it's looks to fast and flashy, but I should want to play a new FPS like that. Haven't done it in ages.

It definitely looks better after turning off variable resolution. All of the bars were maxed out but it overrides the settings? That should be fixed. Thank you 🙏
