Boot Failure Detected Issue (solved)

Hey guys need some help.

My PC is having issues Booting up the last couple days, it turns on but wont boot and after a few tries it might get to that Boot Failure Detected Screen, sometimes it doesn't even get there until I remove 1 of my ram sticks. So captain obvious says its a Ram issue? but after it boots with 1 stick I turn PC off, put the other stick back in and it boots up as well.

My system specs are in Signature if that helps, I've been running my OC for maybe 3 years now issue free, In fact my OC voltages at lower than stock Turbo.

I recently ran Memtest with 0 errors, however I did run Prime95 with extremely high Temps 99c and two cores throttled. this is in stock form! not my OC.

maybe CPU issue?

any ideas would help, I'm gonna get some other Ram sticks from my Bro later to test, and I did replace my MOBO battery, cause I searched and that was recommended.

Edit, seems signature not working.. PC specs:
i7 4790K
gigabyte ga z97x soc force mobo
8 gig ddr3 G Skill Ripjaws X
GTX970
NZXT Kraken X61 Water cooler
Win10

If you used a recent version of P95 (later than 26.6) it will have AVX enabled. P95 Small FFT with AVX and auto/adaptive voltage is almost always going to run hot on a stock (not-delidded) CPU. It is literally one of the hardest/hottest tests you can do so no surprise there. If you wanted to stress test with it there are better/easier/cooler ways to do it

This isn't a sign of hardware failure or cause for concern though.

Memtest has it's purpose but it won't test ram stability, it will only tell you if it's functioning correctly.
To stress the ram I'd recommend using P95 v26.6 (or edit local.txt and add CpuSupportsAVX=0), chang it to torture test and run 448K to 4096k with about 70% of your ram. This shouldn't hit your CPU nearly as hard but if it does just use blend.

If using different ram is possible I think that would also be helpful. Hopefully it is the ram instead of the CPU or mobo.
I've also had a GPU hang up my POST and boot, sometimes preventing a completion of one or the other. Replacing it solved the problem.

Hi,
If you've edited your signature you have to uncheck show rig in sig and save/ exit.
Then return and check sig in rig option save..

Could be a cable/ voltage issue
Disconnect and reconnect cpu/ mother board power
Blow out power supply and everything else.

After see what your power supply rail voltages are doing post a snip of the voltages

Here's a snip of what the power looks like before blowing the PC out, Ill see if anything changes after blowing it out and unplugging power cables. But to me the volts look good.

EDIT: After gently blowing everything out with my compressor, I see no change aside from running a few deg. cooler, there was quite a lot of dust you can imagine lol

My Boot issue continues however it doesn't give me Boot Failure msg anymore! it just doesn't boot until I remove 1 stick of ram, then it boots up fine with no msg I shut down put stick back in and all good.

Just tried my brothers Ram, happens to be exactly the same G Skill Ripjaws X like mine, but no change still no boot still acting the same. Guess I can scratch out the Ram and move to the next? PSU? Hes got one I can test also but damn thats a lot of work.

Ive replaced the battery on the MOBO, which I hear clears CMOS when done so?!

For the heck of it I just cleared CMOS by removing that mobo battery and holding power button for 15 seconds, reinstalled, plugged in and powered up. I know it worked cause I got the msg to load optimal settings or something like that. But still the same problem occurs once I turn system off.

All I'm seeing from my mobo is an orange light MBIOS_LED, a quick search told me that just means the mobo is receiving power from the PSU.

You know I live on the edge

SO here are the Voltages, clearly running stock no OC at the moment at least I'm not getting that Boot Failure msg running stock.

Late last night I unplugged all my periferals, second monitor, second drive, all fans, everything except 1 stock of ram, gpu, monitor to see if the power saved might help boot.
It didn't....However it seemed to get further in the process. Usually I know its going to boot fine when my keyboard and mouse turn on, then monitor. This time my monitor did turn on only to display a cursor and an underscore line flashed a few times before the system restarted itself.. Then turned itself on and back off etc.

Got me thinking maybe hwinfo shows fine voltages but something else within the PSU just isnt right.

But I still dont get the Ram trick to actually boot my PC. Meaning remove a single stick then boot..and reinstall that stick and still boot.. Why does that make it boot fine?

Hi,
I'd update hwinfo for one you're using a very old version.

Uncore 4000 what cache settings are you using exactly in bios there is no voltage reading that I see ?

Which slots are you using for the memory and I don't see a dimm voltage either.
