New pc parts buy help: been 5 years!

Hey all,
its been 5 years since my last pc build and i have about 2,000 to 3,000$ to spend this time, thankfully

I can reuse my full size atx case, ssd's and 850w modular power supply. will probably sell my other components as used, wont go into details on that.

Im hoping somebody up to date can recommend some things im looking at:
i9-9900
air heatsink: probably wont overclock
2080 ti - or compromise for something lower
motherboard
ram
gaming monitor

if you have the time to help a fool out before i do something rash i'd appreciate it
thanks!

pre-existing
my old parts are:
cpu: amd fx-8350
gpu: r9 290 windforce
ram ddr3 8GB

What brand and model is the old PSU you might not want to re-use it
Also what are you going to use the PC for and what monitor do you or do you need that as well?

If you have not been keeping up to date you should know that AMD in many cases is better than Intel now so if you are doing anything other than gaming the 9900 is not the best option
Also what dollars are you talking about US CAD AUS or Zimbabwe dollars?

hey thanks for responding

my power supply is a corsair AX860 https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Catego...tab-tech-specs

the pc is mostly going to be for gaming, and potential streaming.
also im the type of person to being playing games and watching streams or movies on my 2nd monitor.
I use to photoshop and video edit, would like to have the power to multiple things at once.

Definitely going to get a new monitor because my main is probably 10 years old! and is nothing special and also dying (23inch 60hz/5ms response time yuck)

US dollars

so a AMD Ryzen 7 3800X would probly be better than the i9-9900 based off benchmarks?

The AX860 is from 2012 so its not really new and the warranty is 7 years so you might not have a lot if any warranty left
For the platforms in short AMD is better for work and creation and pretty much everything else and Intel is better for gaming but not much else so it depends on what are doing more of

As for a gaming monitor that also depends on what type of game you are playing and what your own preferences are
Do you want a monitor that is good for ONLY gaming or ONLY work or something that can do a little bit of everything and how much are you willing to spend?

And last the 3800x is a 3700x overclocked out of the box so its not worth the extra

definitely want a gaming monitor 144hz 1ms response time nothing bigger than 27inch
and im tilted more towards gaming than a work pc
all i know is my current computer struggles with new games anything i get is a definite improvement

if you could suggest a cpu/gpu combo for intel and amd i could ponder on it and do some more looking around before i make a decision

you are being very helpful though with this information i appreciate it big time

I am not a super expert on Intel and AMD motherboards and CPU´s other than the research i did for my own build last year so i can tell you alot about what not to buy there lol

I have a suggestion for a monitor but its so new that no retailers are selling it in the US yet
https://eu.aoc.com/en/gaming-monitors/q27g2u-bk

The AOC Q27G2U is one of if not THE cheapest high refresh rate 1440P monitor that is Nvidia G Sync compatible
It showed up a few days ago where i live and the price is around $275 US which is half the price of the Gigabyte FI27Q

The reason for that super low price is because its using a VA panel
Do you know about the differences between TN VA and IPS?

yur awesome bro!
Its super late here and i was actually meant to go to sleep half an hour ago so i will just leave you with this video and go to sleep

I would never ever buy a TN monitor again the colors reproduction and viewing angles even today just suck so that leaves you with only VA
Like i said in my last post take a look at the AOC Q27G2U
