During his opening remarks, Tamasi stated the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were, "nothing but good news." Essentially, Nvidia feels that despite the total control AMD now maintains over the console APU market, the new consoles are good for developers, and will thereby raise the bar for the overall games market, including PC. Tamasi also displayed a number of slides with market data, claiming Nvidia currently maintains 66 percent of the GPU market to AMD's 34 percent.

The chart itself doesn't look legit.

Yes I don't trust that chart either. AMD lost 10% market share in a year?

First rig complete and loving it! thumb.gif

Not sure if its totally legit but Nvidia has seen record sales and growth in the past 12 months since the 600 series launch. So I wouldn't say its too far of a stretch to be a possibility.

Though obviously we would need solid numbers before we could definitively say one way or another.

Meh... the market share data is roughly in line with the Steam hardware survey so even if it's not perfectly accurate, it's probably not far off the mark either, Steam has ~52% Nvidia and ~33% AMD (Steam doesn't limit to discrete GPUs, though)

If that chart is legit, that's not good news. But I take it with a pinch of salt.

In line with what we have here according to Karlitos charts from the unigine benchmark thread.

No biggy. Can't expect a perfect 50/50

While chart looks legit spacing as always in these kind of charts looks nothing but terrible.

When you consider the market share for next generation consoles is 100% for AMD and 0% for Nvidia I'm sure AMD is ok with this....

If you manually limit the Steam Survey results to 1080p-capable cards from the 600-Series and 7000-Series, it gives the following data on registered cards.
Note: The 650 Ti BOOST, 690, Titan, 7870 XT (aka Tahiti LE), and 7990 did not have enough sales at this point to show up on the list.

DX11-capable install base
Steam Hardware Survey, April 2013

GTX 670 2.34% (100% of GTX 670's registrations)
GTX 660 2.16% (92.3% of GTX 670)
GTX 660 Ti 1.85% (79.1% of GTX 670)
GTX 680 1.80% (76.9% of GTX 670)
HD 7850 1.79% (76.5% of GTX 670)

NVIDIA's chart is indeed accurate. Here's a separate chart previously released by Mercury Research (who is the cited source of the data). The relevant charts are Exhibits 5 and 6 at the top.

If you need a second source of data, Jon Peddie Research independently came up with the following quarterly market share numbers for discrete GPUs:
Code:
BRAND Q2'12 Q3'12 Q4'12 Q1'13
-------------------------------------
AMD 40.3% 35.7% 34.3% 35.7%
NVIDIA 59.3% 64.0% 65.7% 64.3%
