nickb2 Well got it to 4.47ghz, system crashed continue. So dialed back some voltages. Made it to a more stable 4.2.

Still trying to find that sweet spot so to speak. I see great improvement in some depts, but in others, makes me wish I would not have embarked on this.

Did I just say that, no, of course not.

I came here to get results. The 211 blck up was a no no. Running @ 201. for some reason seems to like it.

nickb2 Thx, guys, it's going stable @ 4.01ghz. Here is a screen shot of intel extreme utility bench mark/stress test. Notice the temps. So I am afraid of going to 4.4 on air cool. Using a 212 evo right now. Push pull on cpu.

Can't say I got it right yet, my ram numbers went down for some reason and I am not seeing what was before. I will try to check my bios and take a snap shot of that also. Maybe I got my ram multiplier wrong.

Still, I want to thank you, you guys got me here so far, I am sure the ram issue is just a minor bios adjustment. It is 4x2=8 gig corsair vengeance ram. 1666. So that ram should (in principle) handle overclocking easy. Or so I was told. The mobo is an extreme asus x58 so that also should not be a problem.

I will get a snap shot of the bios. Until then, cheers from quebec canada.

Camo5 I'm rolling a 950 right now - my suggestion is to set all multipliers as low as they go, and try raising the base clock until it crashes, then take 4 off that number and increase the cpu multiplier and voltage. there are a lot of different ways to do it, experiment for a few days!

my setup is running 4.07 ghz, 1.3125v, moderate LLC, 21x cpu multiplier, 6x ram multiplier, 192 BCLK, and low power states disabled.

My goal is to achieve at least 3.6 with current setup.

Pretty thorough guide here.

Should be able to hit 3.6 easy. Can't imagine you'd need more than 1.25v for 3.6.

tl;dr: raise FSB/base clock in small increments, test for stability, go up until it's not stable. Then drop your RAM speed a notch (RAM speed is affected by base clock) and see if it's still unstable. If it's still unstable, then try adding a bit more CPU voltage.

Still kicking

At some point I down-clocked to 3.2, but my 950 is still purring after eight years of continuous use in my primary home machine. I've upgraded video cards a couple times, but this is by far the longest I've ever kept a mobo/CPU combo in service. Soon to be replaced however
