bajer29 Try Synergy out, maybe? I've not used this software for probably 11 years, but when I did it worked quite flawlessly. It won't literally make your old laptop an additional monitor to your PC, but it will allow you to seamlessly switch your KB&M between your two machines.

EDIT: It actually is quite affordable if you are, in fact, planning on getting a lot of use out of this software. Basic is $29 USD one-time payment and Pro (only difference is SSL encryption) is only $39 USD one-time payment.

Synergy 2 (currently in beta) is supposed to be a lot more powerful:

downlinx As for using your laptop as an extra screen, it can be done but it will cost you the purchase of a specialized software and hardware. It really isn't worth the price for what you get.

Using my laptop with my PC mouse, keyboard, and speakers?

Hi guys, I'm looking for some ways to use my old laptop as a extra screen. Is it possible to have full keyboard, mouse control from my main PC? Also could sound from my laptop output to my main PC? Reason I'm using it this way is to run some old end android idle games in the background which would not draw any resource from my PC. I'm not looking for a screen extender in anyway, the laptop can run it's own programs. I just don't want 2 sets of mouse, keyboard, and speakers. I am currently looking at synergy for the mouse and keyboard control, although I'm not too sure about sound. I have looked at a few remote desktops but I feel those aren't for long term and it draws unnecessary resources from both PC and laptop. So I am wondering if someone has done anything like this before and see how your experiences go. Thanks for the help.
