shilka The old Prime has capacitors on the cables which some complain about as it them as it makes the cables harder to bend

Thanks for the update. I pulled the trigger on non-"Ultra" one as the differences didn't seem worth 40 USD to me. And I needed a PSU with at least 6 SATA connectors with future option for 4 more so went with 750 watt. Plus I fell in love with this PSU. :-)

For any future readers, the differences that I could find in 750 watt version are -

1) SATA cables have been changed. They are now horizontal in the cable direction and not vertical. Also the lengths have changed because of this
2) PSU Tester is included in box
3) SATA 3.3 adapter is included

The PSU itself as such seems unchanged to me. I might be wrong though. However, the specs are identical, even the load graphs are identical so it might be the same unit. Even the warranty is same of 12 years.

Seasonic Prime Titanium or Prime Ultra Titanium

Hi All,

I am able to purchase a Prime Titanium 750 watt (SSR-750TD) for approx 200 USD in my country while Prime "Ultra" Titanium (SSR-750TR) will be available for 240 USD if at all. Should I wait or go for the older model? I can wait 4-5 months if its that better.

Thanks.

Proposed build specs -

2200G
B450 Gaming Pro AC
Define R6
Corsair 8 + 8 GB 3000 MHz
Crucial MX500 500 GB
A whole bunch of 3.5 HDDs for the HTPC.
