m4fox90 Impressive performance in a notoriously Intel-friendly benchmark test.

Be something if they can really increase performance, decrease power (legitimately, not via trickery and PR lies), and decrease price. I doubt it.

The 18% IPC increase over Skylake is a general increase. Zen 2 appears to be 9% faster than Skylake, so Sunny Cove is between 6-9% faster than Zen 2.

I've personally found that most of the security related performance penalty have gone away with the latest (1903) version of windows 10. At least per crystal diskmark random & smoothness in games. 1903 is using retpoline.

I don't think any reviewer wants to go through the headache of testing no mitigation vs old mitigation vs new mitigation so this talk of performance loss will probably quietly fade away.

If the reviewer is using W10 1903, they probably have it running default, which would be mitigations enabled.
If they are using W10 1809, default, then the Intel chip will perform relatively worse since the bad performing mitigation came with that version.
And if they are using an earlier version then it depends if they have the mitigation update installed or not. Or if they have intentionally tampered with it.

Hopefully the reviewers list which version of W10 they are running.

And those new Intel cpus have a lot more than just instruction sets added. Closer to the Zen1 to Zen2 jump.

The memory bandwidth they will need for that won't come cheap. And with 4 separate chiplets, it isn't really an apu anymore. You could more accurately compare that to some Ice Lake + small Xe dgpu combination.
And the infinity fabric power consumption will put a 4 chiplet system at a large disadvantage in low power systems : https://www.anandtech.com/show/13124...2950x-review/4

I haven't seen that 7nm can make up that difference at 15w.
