HW monitor is doing a software approximation. There are no sensers in motherboard or cpu.
I know but who has the time to flash their 'Temp Gun' over the Cooler and the surrounding area, to get actual temps?
We're not running precise equipment for medical research or cooling a Nuclear Reactor. Near enough is always good enough.

Heatpipe orientation issues are not at all new. When Noctua released their NH-C12P they said to not position it with heatpipe bend above fins.
This method of placing a top down heatsink which would also include the be quiet! Dark Rock TF CPU Cooler.
Have applied that same image for placement on two motherboards, using that cooler and the temps indeed are very good, lower than expected for that type of design.
OCN is the place to get an easy understanding of putting together a decently cooled PC system from scratch, using pictures with little text. My 5 year old likes this place as well.

|carmack||It can be proven that one in HP U can transfer twice as much heat than in C. I alredy have TRUE with only one heatpipe and it can transfer much more than 40 W of heat. I will purchase noctua NH-C14 and mount it on a GPU. I will test how much it can cool (until it couldn t stabilize the temperature) in original state (6x6 HP). Then I will cut 5 of them and than see how much heat it can transfer.|
