mmonnin Enigma has been dead since Match 24th with no new units since then so that's not an option either.

That is correct. The marathon is always chosen by SETI.Germany, and then teams can submit suggestions for the other projects.  This year is a little different, since we will only be voting for a WCG sub-project rather than any project for the City Run.

AlphaC Oh okay.

From the SETI Germany page it seems only the non-Marathon ones will be chosen by votes:
Quote:
Sprint --- The project with the most votes that provides workunits with a quorum of 1. This may be a GPU project if no GPU project with a quorum of 2 got more votes.

City Run --- The World Community Grid subproject with the most votes. The following subprojects are available:
[email protected] - Phase 1
Mapping Cancer Markers
OpenZika

Cross Country --- The GPU project with the most votes. If this project has been chosen for the sprint, the CPU-only project with the next most votes that has not been chosen for another discipline is chosen instead.

Swimming --- The CPU-only project (i.e. the project does not provide any GPU application) with the most votes that is not already chosen for another discipline.

edit: from the ones on that page I think for GPU [email protected] is the best. [email protected] is biased for Nvidia right now so EVGA crunching would love that one and GPUGRID is Nvidia only tongue.gif. I'm not sure how many are still running GTX TITAN BLACK / GTX TITAN / Tahiti / Hawaii so [email protected] is iffy as well. Moo!/Collatz/Amicable Numbers/SETI don't have as many practical uses.

As far as CPU projects I haven't seen anything come out from [email protected] SRBase site doesn't even load for me VGTU is mostly crypto right now. [email protected] is more prime numbers , YAFU is more numbers stuff with respect to aliquot sequences. [email protected] is more factorization. [email protected] is more numbers but for fields (which is more useful to multiple scientific fields). yoyo has multiple applications. [email protected] has basically zero practical use.

TNGrid is currently doing DNA research. [email protected] is doing cardiac electrophysiological model crunching. So I'd be inclined to think those are the best use of crunching power right now provided they have enough work.

I'm interested in the marathon project since I tend to be lazy as far as project switching. I think last year I only switched when we secured the marathon project spot.

I do the registration after we have voted on which projects to submit. There is a poll in each discipline's thread that expires in one week. After we have made those selections, then I submit the registration. thumb.gif
