Have you seen the Steam charts over the last few months? You are very wrong.

The game has been selling very well for them, though at this point they need to rebrand it under "Enhanced Edition" or something to get rid of the negative launch day reviews. It's not the same game it was at launch. It even has multiplayer now.

They play the game for 400 hours and just say "it's bad"... ? They never mention on what ground is it bad.
Reviews from gamers are largely garbage, nowadays. But they are damaging the industry. At one point, someone (Valve ?) will have to do something about it. Filter out the noise, what not ...

I see countless posts, here and there, of someone asking "should I buy, given the negative reviews". And that's for brilliant games with lots of contents ...

I'm not quite sure. Murray is an odd one. He can surely create whatever game he wants next, but he seems to be laser focused on finishing NMS. We just don't know what 'finish' means here. Only Murray does.

The game does seem to be in a vastly better place than it was when it was launched and while it may have promised the moon (and a few more rocks), I'd say that it's at least a reasonable game now for people with reasonable expectations of what can be made. They can probably still put in a second storyline for people to explore, give it more purpose, more objectives.

Personally all I can say is that I've paid $60 for games like Tomb Raider which I played for 12-15 hours max and then never touched. Comparitively playing NMS for 40 hours, paying only $20 for it is a much better deal.
This is when I've not even done everything the game has to offer yet. I will probably go beyond 100 hour mark in this game so for $20, I fail to find any other game that can do that.

And for people who complain about grinding... well the game has had a creative mode for 2 years, which gives you unlimited resources. There, all grinding eliminated.

you'd think so after the backlash but in the steam charts it's never dropped below 1000 average users playing and this last summer it peaked at nearly 100K. now it's averaging around 5-6k. basically the same average as Vermintide 2.

It sold well and it's still selling well. It received updates since release and has hours of content.

It was the top 10 most played games worldwide couple of weeks back when they released their NMS NEXT update and it's still up there in the top 100.
It's also at the top of the chart in the top sellers list with every update since 1.3 or something which was 2 years ago.

Game goes on sale with every update - I got the game for $20 and have around 40 hours in the game.

I'm more surprised that on Steam people have 400 hours in the game and give it a negative review.

I edited the original post back to the launch trailer. I do agree that his voice isnt the most pleasing to listen to. This new content has sold me and i plan on getting the game this weekend. Im not expecting a masterpiece, but i do enjoy the genre of game.

Judge it for yourself and don't take my word for it. I've played 397 hours so i obviously enjoyed it at one point! Now not so much!

termathor Like others, I think the devs should be praised for adding *free* content, so long after release !

How cool is that ? And who else is doing this ? Heck, WB ceased to even fix Arkham Knights, 3 months after the broken release !
