Yeah, as paulerxx said, I used my old GTX 260 Core 216 card with those two titles and I really liked it... but after that... I always found PhysX particles and such a waste and too much of a performance hog.
I even tried using the GTX 260 as a PhysX card with my GTX 580, and the results were inconsistent like SLI. Sometimes it was faster with two cards, sometimes it disrupted the frame pacing, sometimes it was just slower.
But now, I don't think any one uses it for GPU accelerated physics, in games at least.
Now, it seems, it's just an SDK/ API for physics like Havok...

In my experience, PhysX always been glaringly and unnecessarily overboard.
For example in Borderlands 2 if you had 2 sirens in party you had to turn it off because of the cluster**** of trash flying around that didn't let you see what the hell was going on.

They should have done this years ago, but better late than never.

Killing Floor 2 could see better performance now with Flex enabled if Tripwire jumps on this.
Does this mean AMD can choose now to support Physx on their graphics cards, or no?

you missed all the silliness of BL2 (6 years ago)?
though it's been in TW3 DLCs and fallout4, yeah, that was the last time NV actively marketed physx in a game.
On this game, Physx was really THE visuals.

Every game made in Unreal Engine 3 and 4 and Unity use PhysX, it's baked into the engine and PhysX is the whole package, CPU physics, animation, accelerated hard and soft body simulation, particle simulation, fluids, etc. Nvidia still has a ton of money to make considering they have their product in the 2 most popular engines in the world but they're open sourcing it instead. It's better and bigger contribution than any of the broken junk other hardware companies have churned out and abandoned since it's just open source.
how many games that are worth mentioning have the Physx activated, the ones everybody's talking about?
