I can run a ground wire to the case frame on the 5 pin on the CPU pwm fan header.

Thanks for the info. I'm surprised the board even cares what version of the heatsink it has. It's crazy how much customization the likes of hp and Dell etc... Put into their components. I want to build a system in an Alienware alx case with the lights, fans and motorized vents but it's not an easy task to get running on a non Dell board.

If you're interested let me know. Price and config is a bit flexible. I'm about to pull the trigger on a z390 and 8th or 9th get i7 build. It would be great to sell it to someone who will appreciate it
