rdr09 Got a 5700 and it is about twice as fast as my GTX 1060 or my R9 290. Uses about same amount of power. It's reference, tho, and i got it for 330$. I love it better than my 5700XT.

Navi just isn’t in the best priceerformance bracket at the moment, you got the 5500XT which is only good with pci-e gen 4 because of the 8x pci-e lanes, 5600XT would need to be about $40 cheaper to be compelling, 5700 would need to be $280-$320, and the 5700XT would need to be $379-$399. The prices on older Pascal, Vega and Polaris kinda outshine Navi when it comes to value. Sure you get a warranty with a new card but most people aren’t really worried about that considering you can get a 1070 for less than $200, 1070 ti for about $250 and a 1080 for around $300-$350. The only difficult part is trying to find a card that wasn’t abused by mining its whole life.

steadly2004 why not a 5700 at $350?

all though, if those two are the only options. get the VEGA 64 100%

That’s why I had to move from my 290X to team green, the drivers were just too temperamental, even though I’m a team red fan by heart I had to skip Vega because of the dodgey drivers and the fact it takes a nuclear power plants to power one (well not that bad but you know what I mean), Navi seems to be in an even worse spot.

KingUniverse UPDATE:

I've got my 2070 under water, O/Cd to 2070/7601 and hitting WELL over 60FPS in every game, all sliders to the right. This is hands down the happiest I've ever been from a GPU purchase. For the first time, there isn't a game that I have to compromise on, and there aren't ANY power or heat issues (Full load for hours she doesn't go above 45c). Ray Tracing, PhysX, Hairworks, EVERYTHING enabled. I couldn't be happier. Mostly 100+ fps, with occasional dips into the 70s. Absolutely amazing card, and worth every penny. Thanks everyone for their input, and here's to hoping AMD can bring me back at some point in the future.

So I ended up with it instead. I mean the Vega 64 isn't a bad card, its just extremely power hungry. The RX 590 is just a rehashed RX 580 with a higher factory overclock, so my recommendation would be to either wait for that to go on sale at RX 580 prices, get an RX 580 for really cheap or look at a 1070 ti/1080 as those are hovering around the same price with about a +/-5% performance gap 9 times out of 10. But if you are a die hard AMD fan like me to an extent, the options are really few and far between which is why I ended up with a GTX 1080 instead of a Vega 64 because the prices just aren't there where they need to be to be compelling.

It's true. V56 is the only price for performance oriented card when it's on sale. 1080s are very cheap on eBay and FB right now. However, if you like tuning your system, the 1080 just doesn't do it for a lot of us enthusiasts.

KingUniverse So what test/game should I run and post to see how bad I'm bottlenecked? I've already tested out many of the games I wanted to play maxed out at 60fps, and they're ALL running butter smooth, but I'd like to post some benchmarks/fps numbers to see just how bad it is vs. what everybody was expecting. Someone also mentioned they wanted to know because they still had a 9590 laying around. So let me know and I'll run and post results.

rediornot
which gpu

the 1660ti is less than the gtx 1070 and has tested better than the rx580 (I have 2 of those) the 580s run about $200, the 1660ti is less than 300 and the 1070s are still high. Watch the youtube reviews and I think you will agree.
