J7SC Spending a lot of time at home these days, like many of you...

...recently got Unigine Superposition 8K working with NVLink for dual 2080 Tis. Overall, the dual loop / 4x D5 pumps still performing w/o any appreciable loss of temps or liquids after well over a year

...took the TT Core P5 glass cover off to allow for some some surface cleaning, even if it was not really dusty

...going back to 64 GB from 32 GB to fine-tune timings for 8 sticks - that is sure to take up some time stuck at home

J7SC It is coming up on a year since the first test loop for this build was put together, and I was getting ready for some maintenance for both the CPU loop and GPU loop. But no appreciable loss of fluids in either loop, nor ANY particles floating about in the reservoirs. No increase in temps (at a given ambient) either for the same benches for CPU and/or GPUs. From what I can see of the GPU heat-fins inside (via clear acrylic block sections), no deposits. So far, so good...

I am using a 50/50 mix of distilled water and Thermaltake Coolant 1000 blue in both loops.

J7SC ...picked up a slightly-used Philips 40 Inch 4K Monitor BDM4065UC for the Orca project. I am using this both for productivity and some gaming, and with DisplayPort, it does 4K at up to 75 Hz. At the equivalent of about US$ 360 including DisplayPort cable, this was hard to pass up.

...attached is a quick 'Crytek Neon Noir' ray-tracing demo bench on 4K ultra with early attempts at SLI/NVLink via AFR mode. I am really looking forward to try out the Multi-GPU Checkerboard Rendering (CFR) soon on various 4K apps and games that was added recently (more or less silently) by NVidia

J7SC ...updated the cooling flow via shrouds a bit a week back - and today is a nice cool fall day; time for some 'open windows' runs...

Also, I am still wondering whether to update (if possible > re. X399) the 'Orca and Rucksack' project when the next-gen TRs come out, or start a fresh build after Christmas. So far, I couldn't be happier with the current 2950X / 2x 2080 Ti combo

J7SC ...It's getting colder, so the Core P5 / Orca & R. project got a hat (not to say toque) It's a piece of clear acrylic I liberated from an older fridge which helps direct airflow while also acting as a bit of a dust cover

...getting tempted to run 4.3 Giggles instead of 4.25 as voltages seem ok, but much more serious stress-testing is needed.

J7SC ...some careful cleaning around the PSU and GPUs as there's a lot of airflow going through the open case; fortunately, the two GPUs face downwards

...reran PortRoyal and Cinebench R15 + R20 after the latest OS patch madness; doesn't seem to have hurt performance any

J7SC ...time to think about mounting the MSI PCIe 4x M.2 card that came with the X399 Creation motherboard, while the Core P5 case came with the PCIe extender cable included.

...the mobo has 3x M.2 onboard as well, and while I don't need all 7x M.2, it still would be a great addition. First, I have to check the manual though re. sequence of NVLink/ SLI plus an additional card...

...at least it doesn't smell like the typical gym Re. the MSI MEG Creation, it's been a flawless performer. I just pushed the quad-channel RAM (32GB) to 3600 MHz CR1 on this board and CPU. It works, though I did not try to go for the same 'tight' timings I'm running with the daily 3466 MHZ settings yet since this is a dual-purpose HEDT machine (work + play).

This build's CPU cooling was designed with a 32c / 12nm in mind. Depending on upcoming TR-3 / 7nm details and also other productivity needs, I might update this setup to a 7nm (32c ?) down the line and migrate the current 2950X permanently to the MSI X399 Pro Carbon for work. But so far, the 2950X is (far) more than enough and a ton of fun

J7SC ...per attached, some tests with (Micron) VRAM variation and the Port Royal 1.1 benchmark with DLSS. This is before 'extra AC cooling' mentioned above, with follow-up tests soon.

DLSS is important down the line for some of our long-term business data, and Project Orca's multiple roles include that of a being a test-bed for those applications.
