speed_demon I spoke too soon. After an update to COD I am now getting random freezes followed by a system restart. Happened to me 3 times within a 30 minute span of playing the new prop hunt mode in COD Black ops 4. Posting this in case another person with this issue finds the thread.

From what I gather I'm not the only one with this issue. Never heard of a game update causing system reboots until now. Just to add again that i'm not overclocked on any components when this happens.

Since the issue came back I've updated the video driver to the latest and kept a close eye on temperatures. So far CPU temps are peaking at a very normal 65C in game, meaning I'm not hitting a thermal cut causing the restart.

From what I gather the game doesn't play well with certain combination of hardware. I'm upgrading my entire rig soon so i'm not too worried about it.

martinhal Great to see you are sorted

speed_demon Thank you shilka & martinhal for your help. The problem was due to ASRock releasing a really bad BIOS update. They purged the 5.50 I was using from their site and released a 5.60 update which works as it should.

shilka The only other thing i can think of then is bad SATA ports of cables otherwise i am out of ideas
What about BIOS updates and drives?

speed_demon Thought it might be the drive as well. Hard Disk Sentinel says about the drive "The hard disk status is PERFECT. Problematic or weak sectors were not found and there are no spin up or data transfer errors.

No actions needed."

And my OS drive
"The status of the solid state disk is PERFECT. Problematic or weak sectors were not found.
The TRIM feature of the SSD is supported and enabled for optimal performance.

No actions needed."

shilka Have you tried running tests on your drives as sometimes a dying drive can cause the sort of problems you have
Seagate Seatools is free to download or there is hard drive sentinel if you rather use that

speed_demon I do. I tried an Antec NeoHE 500 and a Corsair RM 750x with no change.

shilka The PSU you have is not all that good so do you have another one you can try?

speed_demon Nope, I returned my whole system back to stock speeds.

martinhal Are you overclocking your ram ? I had a similar issue when my ram goes over 3000mhz in some games .
