JackCY Don't bother with Intel, they are still stuck with Skylake architecture, it will take them time before they make something substantially better and fixed of their endless issues. 6000-9000 Intel is all the same on Dekstop for the most part. Who knows when they will move away from the "Lakes" finally.
The price/performance for Intel parts is often abysmal when AMD has a competitive product as they do now. Easily pay +50% or more for +10% performance, so not worth it. At low end products can be more competitive but the high end from Intel is nuts price wise.

Zen2 3000 series is what I would get. If you can't wait till then, well 2700X is a beast.

ShrimpBrime AMD RYZEN 7 2700X 8-Core 3.7 GHz (4.3 GHz Max Boost) Processor, ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING AM4 AMD B450 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard, CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 Memory
Newegg bundle. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Combo...2700x%20bundle

This is the route I went, but with the B450M-A board.

Go big or stay home.... or as suggested wait until 3rd gen ryzen is released and look into a 500 series chipset...

However, most AM4 boards will support 3rd Gen Ryzen cpus. So you could always upgrade that later... Really depends on Needs vs Wants IMO.

Bizong Oh I have a new psu so no worries there.

shilka What brand and model is your old PSU? if its from 2009 you should not be re-using it with a brand new motherboard CPU and RAM
Quad channel RAM by the way is only found on X79/X99/X299/X399 so it does not matter if you pick Z390 X470 both use dual channel

And as JackCY said wait for Zen 2

Edit: and ditch the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo its overrated overhyped and overpriced and its not worth buying

JackCY Mainstream platforms are dual channel. Only HEDT go to quad and beyond. Doesn't matter if it's AMD or Intel. RAM should be down in price now unlike year or two ago when they milked it by limiting supply.
You should wait for Zen2 unless you really need the hardware now, then Zen1.5 is fine.

rdr09 If you're from MD, you might be close to a Micro Center. There are two of them.

or this, which comes with a decent cooler

For the RAM, i recommend this . . .

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-217-_-Product

Get some MX-4 Thermal paste to go along with the cooler.

The Ryzen 3000 7 nm CPU and X570/550 boards are coming in a few weeks.

EDIT: Dual channel is fine BUT make sure you use either 2 sticks of RAM or 4 sticks. One stick will be a bottleneck.

Gunderman456 You can go dual channel and buy two more sticks later.

Edit:

Guess that board is dual channel (as stated below), so buying two sticks now will not hamper things.
