Plus nowadays there aren't even that many hard core games to begin with as most games have been dumbed down to promote sales to casuals.

Never bought a console, don't see why now I should Sony, really don't. You got nothing to offer other than money to developers to release certain titles only for your platform aka anti customer practices.
I couldn't disagree with the last statement more. I had been a Nintendo exclusive guy up until I built a PC in 2010, then it was between that and Nintendo Exclusives. I just got my first non-nintendo console ever when I got the Read Dead 2 PS4 Pro. If you haven't played that, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider Man, Uncharted, and The Last of Us among others, you are really missing out and it's hard to give creedence to that statement until you at least try a couple of them. Maybe borrow someone's PS4 for a week or a month.

Sure TVs have a range of response times but it a more even playing field, and anyone playing competitively would likely have a good TV.

There will for sure a lot of cases where the same game comes out on PS4 and PS5. Maybe they have separate servers for ppl playing at 30 vs 60hz, or maybe they get 60hz on both consoles with the PS4 have way lower graphics. Time will tell.
All of 2021 is CDPRJKTRED for me, specially since we're likely getting Ceri's story via Witcher 4. Getting tired of Cyberpunking? Go horseback riding as Ceri thru Tameria instead

vegaspimp22 lol color me agreeable with ya. Pc's can barely do 8k, and not well at all. No way Sony is, unless.....unless they mean 8k, at 2 FPS. Then ok, maybe so. Supersampled at 8k, checkboarding, lol.

if not, then you'll have the disparities you complain about above... while they exist, most of the time the person killing you is just better than you.

skupples this is a larger issue than just PC gaming. It's the inability for people to realize that someone is simply better than them at something. They can't grasp that they're simply not that good, and that someone else is much much better.

as stated above. I can jump into CS @ 240FPS in 1440p (so stupidly fast frames + more view) and i'll still get schooled. Why? Cuz I'm bad. I haven't been into FPS in over a decade. The hardware may help a bit, but after a certain point, which isn't all that high in cost, its 99.99% skill.

bigjdubb It's a mute point anyways. All the refresh rate and high end hardware in the world doesn't make me any better at counter strike, a good player on 30hz will destroy me even if I have 200hz.

At least on consoles you know people are generally on even footing to start out with.

I could see a next gen console being much better for "hard core" though, if all that really means is higher FPS. I see a lot of games coming out on PS4 with [email protected] graphics and then PS5 having a few options like [email protected] or [email protected] Competitive console gamers would obviously go for the 120hz options.
If there's a notorious discrepancy in display latency and response times, it's among TV's, not monitors. I'm not sure how that's a good argument for things being balanced on consoles.

Competitive games tend to be, at the lowest settings, easy enough to run at "fast" framerates, as long as your hardware is not a million years old. People will argue about minute differences at the very top end, like that's what's going to make you any good at the game, but that's just the autism of most communities.

Through the 90’s and 2000’s you had constant iteration with PC CPU tech, so even if a console came out with a crazy CPU like Cell, it was quickly overtaken.
Now CPU tech advances painfully slow. AMD is innovating in core count but Clocks/IPC are still what matters most for games, and in that regard “Top Of The Line” has been practically the same for years already and it doesn’t look like it’ll be changing very much any time soon.
If the consoles hit over 3Ghz with 8C16T I’d bet it’ll take 5 years before we actually see a PC CPU that can double the framerate of Next Generation CPU intensive games.

Pray that 60fps becomes the new AAA standard.
PS5 rumored to be faster than 1080. This era of slower gpu cycles have let plebs catch up.

"Look" is a very subjective statement.

Technically they arent really superior nor do they run better than their counterparts. For instance GoW is a very close quarters game with few enemies on screen at the same time, couple that with low framerate and a relatively low rendering resolution and you have a trade off for a more detailed environment and characters. All of these games make technical trade offs for their visuals, I tend to think that games like RDR or TW3 are more impressive visually than GoW, but to each their own.

Then there are games like Death Str. which literally run horribly.
