Good choice because if you run anything in the background the 9900K is going to suffer compared with the 3900X.

I never close browsers when I play games and very often I have my own music running as ingame music is awfully boring usually. All of these tasks require cycles and thanks to the C/T number AMD are just unbeatable for the money.

i mostly use my PC for gaming with once in a while i use After effects currently use 4970K

Fish702 If you're using your system for gaming mainly? Then yes, you probably made the correct decision. The Intel 9900k is beating the 3900 in most of the games. At least that is what I've I have seen in early reviews. If you are doing development or encoding work then the 3900 is a tiny bit ahead, but at the price you're stating for the 9900k, you did good.

As with any spare, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I can definitely see a scenario where somebody is waiting on e.g. a lot of water cooling parts and still wants to use their PC, what's wrong with that?

AlphaC I sold my Wraith Prism the week I had it , unopened. You have to factor in every user not just the ones on OCN.
2nd and 3rd gen Ryzen boost based on temperature so the better the stock cooler the better the reviews are.
