8051 So the android OS automatically picks up USB mice+keyboards? How does the android OS know what to do w/video output over USB 3.0 OTG as far as detecting a panel and its characteristics (resolution, refresh rate) over a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter? I notice they do have USB panels now, but how would you get the drivers for them on a smartphone?

Yes some phones support USB-C hubs. And some support video over USB-C. You can also cast your phone to a display wirelessly. And or use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

speed_demon There is something similar available on many USB-C phones, but as far as I know only a select few micro-usb devices supported video out.

Here is a Samsung MHL adapter that allows a few compatible devices to output to HDMI. Worked with my first gen Galaxy Tab S but one would need to use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with it. https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Samsu.../dp/B00NFZ2JDI

Conversely there are USB-C hubs that allow video out and up to 4 usb devices to connect to a single cell phone. I have this one - Hootoo Hub, which even has an SD card reader than my cell phone can pull pictures and files from.

speed_demon It is possible. You would need a USB OTG adapter for older android devices, or a USB-C to USB adapter for newer androids.

Looks something like this

USB full size keyboards w/smartphones?

I read rumor that it's possible to use USB keyboards w/smartphones (I'm guessing w/an appropriate USB adapter). Is it true?
