A current gen hyper 212 should be enough ( the black ones don't look to bad either )

|AlphaC||@ pony-tail , 6 cores should be fine on B350.|

|Synoxia||Well if you're VRM bottlenecked never ever use water cooling... Noctuas help with VRM cooling.|

I am impressed that the board did not fail .
I am waiting on an Asus Strix B350 itx board to come back from warranty , there is a zen 2 bios for it so it is looking good for it to have a 3600 or 3600x put on it and be OK .
Don,t need it anymore so if it fries not a great loss , but after seeing a b350 ( albeit a different brand ) cope so well with 12 cores , I think I will be fine wit a 6 core . good little linux box !.
now I just need to see if there is any issues with the Debian based linux distroes on the new CPUs .
I still game on an Intel . but maybe not for long if the AMD beats my 8700k ( also on an Asus strix itx board - z370 )
Much spare time to waste and hopefully some fun in the process .

|gonX||That's really interesting. The air cooler allowed for very decent VRM temps given the design of the board.|

That board probably doesn't have overtemperature protection , usually it shuts off at 125 Celsius but this review suggests it just throttles at 140 Celsius.

|rjeftw||Pretty cool, granted those VRM temps are scary!|

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Tested on Cheap B350 Motherboard
^As per title^
"We were curious to see how well a cheap B350 motherboard could run the latest and greatest 12-core, 24-thread Ryzen 9 3900X and were pleasantly surprised that there was no smoke or sparks flying. Actually I'm impressed with how well this two-generation-old platform can run the newest processor — thank you AMD. Intel would have definitely charged us for a new chipset — twice."
