Yes, with the timings that high, your 3600 just about equal my 3333 CL16. I normally use the Calc for anything higher than 3333. Lowest mem lat i've seen on Gen2 is around 62-63 and that's at 3800MHz speed and tight timing. Gen1+ gets lower even at just 3466 CL14. Does not really matter cos our L3 cache compensates for it. The 3700X has twice the L3 cache of the 2700X. I just use 3333 DOCP on mine cos i only have a 5700 gpu. Here is my Cine runs. |

Cinebench cares very little about RAM speed/timings (as do most things) and XMP CL16 3200 to XMP CL18 3600 is hardly an upgrade anyway. Most people wouldn't have noticed a difference between CL16 3200 and CL16 3600. Not to mention if you're setting XMP and calling it a day your motherboard is going to set all secondaries and tertiaries, and your motherboard is going to set them far looser at auto 3600 than auto 3200 to increase compatibility. XMP only sets the primary timings and command rate, the rest is up to your motherboard. I'd probably return the RAM and spend the money elsewhere if you don't feel like investing the time setting all your timings manually (which even if you do isn't likely to get you huge gains either). |

I ran mem latency test on 3333 vs 3733 Cl16 in the past using DOCP 3200 timings. Check it out. |

I am in the process of building a new PC with a 3800x and i picked 3600 MHz CL16 RAM for the build but if you are saying there is no point maybe i should just stick with 3200 MHz? 3200 MHz kit i am looking at https://www.computersalg.dk/i/569865...20MHz%20%2f%20 3600 MHz kit https://www.computersalg.dk/i/569756...16-g-skill-kit Is 3600 MHz no better than 3200 MHz in any game or have you not tested that? |
